La Quercia

2013 Aglianico IGT

Puglia Italy

Aglianico (pronounced "ahl-YAH-nee-koe") is a black grape grown in Campania, Puglia and Basilicata that originated in Greece and was brought to the south of Italy by Greek settlers.  Named in honor of La Querica (pronounced "la-KWIR-cha"), a majestic oak tree that grows in southern Italy, this is a wine of power and finesse that showcases the classic ripe plum and white pepper notes that the varietal is known for, along with flavors of cedar, tobacco and berries that lead to a long and lingering finish with soft tannins.  13% ABV RWC
