Nicolas Poptel founded his negociant Maison Roche de Bellene in 2009 where the emphasis in on individual terroirs from vielles vignes (old vines -- 40 years or older) that are farmed responsibly.  All of his growers are either biodynamically certified or are farming according to the principles of lutte raisonee (sustainable viticulture, which enables Nicolas to consistently produce the expressive, terroir-driven style that is his vision.

This 100% Pinot Noir from old vines (42 to 70 years) in one of the greatest villages of the Cotes de Nuits is a well-balanced wine that delivers fragrant and floral aromas and flavors of cherry, smoke and earth with tannins with sufficient heft and a lingering finish.  Good through 2023.  90 points Wine Spectator.  13% ABV C&C
