Pierre Matrot

2011 Meursault Rouge

Burgundy France

Domaine Matrot is a family domaine established in 1914 by Joseph Matrot in the town of Meursault, located on the Route des Grands Crus in the department of the famous Cote de Beaune (which is part of the Cotes d'Or).  Grapes for this 100% Pinot Noir, from vines with an average of 30 years, underwent very light crushing in order to keep 20 to 30% of the grapes intact and were fermented using indigenous yeasts for 8-15 days, then aged for 11 months in oak barrels, 10-20% of which were new oak.  The result is a rich and mouthwatering beauty that displays rich aromas and flavors of cherry, raspberry and spice that lead to an intense, long and elegant finish.  Best from 2015 through 2022.  Only 70 cases imported.  90 points Wine Spectator.  13% ABV SWC
