La Pinede

2012 Cotes du Rhone

Rhone Valley France

$13.49

La Pinede takes its name from the regional dialect in the southern Rhone Valley and their word for the pine cones that can be found on trees throughout the region.  Owned by the Familie Picard, it is part of a consortium of five family-owned winemaking houses in the Loire, Burgundy and Rhone Valley. La Pinede sources its grapes (79% Grenache and 21% Syrah) for this Rhone red blend from vineyards that combine traditional methods with modern advances to ensure ripe and richly flavored with fruit with varietal character that is true to type.  Each varietal is sorted by hand, macerated for three days, fermented in the traditional style, racked and finished in stainless steel tanks before bottling.  The result is a wine with deep black-ruby color that displays aromas and flavors of fruit compote and wild strawberries that lead to a fresh and fruit finish.  14% ABV FGW
