Burgundy France

Domaine Matrot is a family domaine established in 1914 by Joseph Matrot in the town of Meursault, located on the Route des Grands Crus in the department of the famous Cote de Beaune (which is part of the Cotes d'Or).  Grapes for this 100% Pinot Noir, from vines with an average of 55 years, underwent very light crushing in order to keep 20 to 30% of the grapes intact and were fermented using indigenous yeasts for 8-15 days, then aged for 11 months in oak barrels, 10-20% of which were new oak.  The  result is a bright and elegant 100% Pinot Noir that delivers intense aromas and flavors of strawberry, cherry, earth and mineral tones that lead to a long and mouthwatering finish.  Best from 2015 through 2023.  Only 70 cases imported.  91 points Wine Spectator.  SWC
