Bodegas Volver

2011 Single-Vineyard Tempranillo

La Mancha Spain

Bodegas Volver, a joint venture between importer Jorge Ordonez and Rafael Canizares, produces wines from huge holdings of 252 acres in La Mancha, 457 acres in Alicante and 125 acres in Jumilla. The fruit for this 100% Tempranillo comes from a single vineyard.  The juice spent 18 months in new French oak before being bottled unfiltered.  Abundant notes of acacia flowers intermixed with black currants and blackberries are presented in a flavorful, medium-bodied, slightly spicy format.  A nicely textured mouth feel, sweet tannins and a long finish suggest that this stunning value will drink well for 3-4 years beyond vintage.  Wines such as this normally sell for $30-$50 a bottle.  92 points Robert Parker; 90 points Wine Spectator.  15% ABV  HWG
