2013 Terlaner Classico White BlendAlto Adige Italy
Pinot Bianco (said to be a mutation of Pinot Grigio which, in turn, is said to be a mutation of Pinot Noir) has always been one of the most important wines crafted at Cantina Terlano, a winner of some 17 Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri awards. The longevity of their wines is due to a combination of high mineral content of the soils, old vines growing in complete harmony, carefully managed vineyards with low yields per vine, and the rigorous selection of healthy and fully-mature grapes.
The grapes for this clean and complex white wine were manually harvested, slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged on the lees for 5-7 months. The result is a crisp and fresh full-bodied wine with aromas and flavors of pear, raspberry and lime plus a touch of camomile and lemon grass to round out the composition. 90 points James Suckling who writes "Lots of mineral, flint and sliced-kiwi here. Full body, fresh acidity and a bright and fruity finish." 13.5% ABV HWG
