2013 Barbera d'Alba

Piemonte Italy

The Cantine dei Marchesi di Barolo has produced this Ruvei Barbera d'Alba that is comprised of some 15% Nebbiolo d'Alba that increases the wine;'s finesse and elegance.  The grapes were harvested exclusively by hand and quickly brought to the wine cellar for de-stemming and soft pressing.  Fermentation took place in controlled temperatures, and maceration of the skins took eight days.  The wine was aged in traditional Slavonian oak barrels to make the wine more harmonious and increase the freshness of the bouquet.  The result is a well-balanced Barbera with aromas and flavors of blackberries, red fruit jam, spicy hints of vanilla and toasted hazelnut.  This little beauty would pair well with a wide range of appetizers, pasta dishes with rich sauces, and both boiled and roasted meat dishes.  13.5% ABV SWC
