2014 Costamolino VermentinoSardegna Italy
The story of Cantine Argioloas is basically the story of a family, a story that begin in the early 1900s on the island of Sardegna, the island home to farmers, olive groves and vineyards. It was here in 1906 that Antonio, the family patriarch, was born. His two sons, Franco and Giuseppe, inherited his passion for winemaking and shared it with their wives, Pina and Marianna, and then their own children. Today, the winery is run by the third Argiolas generation, Antonio's grandchildren. It is, after all, a simple story, one harvest after another that is handed down from parent to child.
This bright and fresh wine, comprised of 95% Vermentino and other indigenous varietals, was fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh and aromatic qualities of these grapes. Malolactic fermentation was partially carried out to allow for greater richness without sacrificing the typical effusiveness of the Vermentino grape. Lemon-green in color, this wine delivers delicate aromas and flavors of citrus, persimmon, verbena and dried apricot undertones of tropical fruits and honey and shows delightfully zesty acidity, which makes it both food-friendly and crowd-pleasing. Pair this well-priced beauty with pasta primavera, gremolata sauces, vegetable terrines and shrimp cocktails. 14% ABV TEG
