2014 Godello

Sonoma Valley California

As was the case with their Abrente Albarino, this is a joint project of the very talented Morgan Twain Peterson, founder of Bedrock Wines and son of Joel Peterson, founder of Ravenswood Winery, and Michael Havens, the first producer of Albarino in the New World (and even made the first celebrated Sine Que Non wine).

Less well-known than it should be, the Godello (pronounced "go-DAY-oh") grape makes some wonderfully aromatic medium-bodied dry wines that can be truly revelatory, even developing well with a little bottle age.  This highly-textured and aromatic white wine was fermented in stainless steel with native yeast, and malolactic fermentation was prevented to preserve the wine's spine; it was then placed into neutral oak barrels with the majority of its lees.  The result is a truly delicious wine with aromas and flavors of grapefruit, blood orange, tarragon and anise along with a textured and layered mouthfeel. 14.1% ABV MON
