2013 Jongieux White Wine

Savoie Savoie France

Savoie is a French department (county) located in the Rhone-Alps region of central eastern France, bordering Switzerland to the north and Italy's Valle d'Aosta region to the south.  Jongieux is a small appellation surrounding the village of the same name on a plateau at an altitude of between 1000 and 1500 feet that was formed by the melting of an ancient glacier situated between the Rhone River and Lake Bourget, the largest and deepest lake entirely within the French borders.  This truly spectacular white wine is crafted from the Jacquere grape, a Savoir specialty, a uniquely alpine treasure.

The grapes underwent low-temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks and partial malolactic fermentation before  being aged "sur lie" (on the yeast lees) until bottling.  The result is a superior white wine that displays aromas of pear, lemon zest, white flower and stone that are followed by flavors of citrus, lime, white peach and minerals. Balanced by a lovely mineral touch and great acidity, this wine is the ideal summer white and a thirst quencher, particularly on a very hot day.  Bright and cleansing, it is especially suited when served with grilled or pan-fried white fish, oysters, shellfish and Tomme de Savoie cheese, or just by itself as a delightful aperitif.  12.5% ABV HWG
