2013 Paragon Vineyard Albarino

Edna Valley California

The Niven family's two estate vineyards, Paragon and Firepeak, have earned the Sustainability in Practice (SIP) Vineyard Designation.  The family has ensured that these vineyards historically have been farmed in careful and responsible manner, taking into account all facets of the surrounding environment.  Certification proves their collective commitment to environmental stewardship, economic viability and equitable treatment of employees.

The fruit for this wine is grown in the famed Paragon Vineyard of the Edna Valley on the Central Coast of California, planted by winegrower pioneer Jack Niven in the early 1970s.  Made in the traditional style of Albarinos from Rias Baixas, this wine is pure and vibrant, with a slight salty characteristic.  Mandarin orange and tangerine peel begin in the aromatics and run clear through to the finish.  The round mouthfeel is beautifully balanced by a somewhat crisp acidic structure.  The refreshing quality of this wine makes it an excellent aperitif as well as pairing nicely with most sea foods.  13.5% ABV WWH
