2013 Valle Isarco Sylvaner

Alto Adige Italy

Sylvaner is an ancient varietal that has long been grown in Central Europe, especially in Transylvania.  It was introduced in Alto Adige in the early 1700s and is now produced exclusively in Valle d'Isarco.  Fermented in stainless steel tanks, the wine is left to refine on noble lees for eight months in the tanks and for another two months after bottling.  The result is a bright straw-yellow crisp and full-bodied wine that exhibits elegant aromas and flavors of tropical fruit, pineapple and banana along with hints of exotic herbs, lemon verbena and flowers.  With its pure and refined finish, this little beauty pairs well with appetizers, asparagus dishes, grilled fish and escargot and with an assortment of German country dishes.  13.5% ABV  Residual Sugar 6g/L HWG
