2013 Ventoux Red Blend

Stretching out along the left bank of the Rhone river, the Ventoux appellation shares the same climactic features and grape varietals as the neighboring Cotes du Rhone vineyards.  A blend of Grenache (about 80%) and Syrah (20%), the Grenache grapes undergo traditional winemaking in stainless steel vats, while the Syrah is not destemmed in order to give full expression to the powerful fruit aromas from this varietal.  After malolactic fermentation, the wines are blended before going into stainless steel vats in the temperature-controlled winery and then bottled after 6-8 months.  With its predominantly berry-fruit bouquet, the result shows the full aromatic power of these two fine grapes varietals while retaining the freshness that is imparted by well-controlled winemaking,.  88 points Wine Spectator.  13% ABV SWC
