Luca Bosio

2014 Cortese di Gavi

Piemonte Italy

The Cortese grapes for this wine come from the Bosio Estate vineyards located in the village of Gavi at an elevation of between 100 to 200 feet above sea level.  The vines, with an average age of 20 years, are grown on favorabloe southeast and southwest-facing slopes in sandy soils.  After harvesting, the grapes spend 24 hours at low temperature in contact with skin to increase aroma complexity.  After the grapes are pressed, the must is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.  Following fermentation, the wine then spends three months on the lees and then aged another three months in the bottle.  The result is a very pale white wine with clean and crisp aromas and flavors of pineapple, apricot and peach with enticing floral overtones. 12% ABV QUI
