Ravenswood winemaker Peter Mathis grows fruit for his Rose in the hills above the town of Sonoma from vines planted in 1999.  The grapes were whole-cluster pressed with minimal skin contact to allow for delicate extraction and then cold fermented for 28 days utilizing native yeasts before spending five months in a small stainless steel tank.  The result is a lovely fresh, dry Rose, pale salmon in color,  made in the classic Provencal style that  exudes aromas and flavors of crushed raspberries and watermelon with a soft, bright texture.  This little gem pairs well with lighter summer fare, grilled meats and spicier dishes.  Only 424 cases produced. 13% ABV DIR
