2014 San Vicenzo White Blend

Veneto Italy

Robert Anselmi, once the guiding light of Soave wine, increasingly found that local restrictions were preventing him from expressing his full creativity, so he gave up using "Soave" on his label and has forged a category of his own, thereby establishing new markers for quality of Italian wines.  This San Vicenszo, grown in the Monteforte area within the Veneto region of northern Italy, is a blend of Garganega (80%) and equal parts of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc that was cold macerated and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and aged for six months before bottling on March 15, 2015.  The result is a medium-bodied, food friendly wine with aromas of ripe apples, baked pear and apricot that are followed by flavors of more apple, pear and lemon with hints of flint and mineral.  Enjoy this little gem with such light fare as grilled shellfish or just by itself as a pleasing and  crisp aperitif.  12.5% ABV SWC
