Chateau de Manissy

2015 Tavel Roise

Tavel France

Only Rose wines can be produced in the Tavel appellation; no red or white wines come from this region.  Tavel Roses are made in the tiny, sleepy of the same name, less than 110 miles southwest and across the Ehojne from Chateauneuf-du-Pape.  Nine Rhonme grapes, both red and whoite, can be used, but Grenache is generally the leader.  The 75 acres of the Chateau de Manissy vineyard, averaging over 40 years of age, are planted in sandy and pebbly soils, ideal for Rose wines.  Despite its pretty pink color, this bone-dry blend of Grenache, Clairette, Cinsault and Bourboulenc, like other Tavel Roses, is a rugged wine with robust, spicy berry aromas and flavors.  13.5% ABV FGW
