2013 ZinfandelDry Creek Valley California
In a year with almost perfect ripening conditions, this 2012 Zinfandel from the Dry Creek Valley is intense, mouth-filling, yet well-balanced -- a classic example of Zinfandel from one of the best places in California to grow this varietal. Since Dry Creek Valley receives coastal fog in the evening and early morning, the grapes from this area show a bright acidity which blends perfectly with the forward fruit from the vineyards, resulting in a long-lived and balanced wine.
This Zin (with 8% Petite Sirah) exudes voluptuous aromas of black raspberry, cassis and chocolate with an underlying floral component of lavender and violets that are followed by flavors of more dark chocolate and black pepper with hints of clove on the finish. Sonoma County 2015 Harvest Fair Double Gold (wines $30-$40). 14.5% ABV HWG
