Obsidian Ridge

2013 Cabernet Sauvignon

Lake County California

This rich, full-bodied and densely-structured Cabernet Sauvignon (with a small percentage of Syrah and Cabernet Franc) came from the cool and rainy 2011 vintage; however, the high elevations from 2300 feet in the Red Hills of Lake County afforded the grapes better ripening conditions than existed during the season, for example, on the valley floor in Napa.  Slightly dusty and herbal on the nose, this Cab shows a wonderful similarity to classic Bordeaux blends from great vintages in France.  Its refined aromas are a prelude to the silky feast of ripe plums and black cherry flavors that fan out across the palate.  A soft touch of vanilla adds to the allure of this polished and well-balanced wine.  14.3% ABV SWR
